Ecommerce Accountant for Amazon, Shopify & eBay Sellers
Your marketplace payouts arrive after fees, refunds, ads and reserves — so a generic accountant can’t tell you your real profit. We reconcile every payout, handle your cross-border VAT, and keep your books ready for HMRC. Fixed monthly fee, no jargon.
Fixed monthly fee · No long tie-in · MTD & Xero ready
What is an ecommerce accountant?
An ecommerce accountant is a qualified accountant who specialises in the finances of online sellers. Unlike a high-street accountant, they reconcile marketplace payouts (matching sales to fees, refunds and ad spend), handle cross-border VAT such as the EU’s OSS and IOSS schemes, track cost of goods, and file tax for businesses selling on platforms like Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy and TikTok Shop.
At ATB Solutions, that means one team handling your bookkeeping, VAT, year-end accounts and tax — all under a single fixed monthly fee.
Why online sellers need a specialist accountant
A high-street accountant sees one Amazon deposit and books it as revenue. But that single settlement can bundle 40+ transaction
types — sales, seller fees, FBA charges, refunds, ad spend and reserves. Booked as a lump sum, your VAT is wrong and your profit is a guess.
Payouts hide the real story
One settlement mixes gross sales with fees, refunds, PPC spend and reserves. Without reconciliation, your margins are fiction.
Cross-border VAT is a minefield
EU sales, OSS, IOSS, marketplace-collected VAT and distance-selling rules all apply differently. Get the treatment wrong and you either overpay HMRC or invite a penalty.
You can't see your best product
Without cost of goods and per-channel reporting, you don't know which SKUs make money and which quietly lose it after fees and shipping.

Ecommerce VAT and Making Tax Digital: what UK sellers need to know
- The UK VAT registration threshold is £90,000 of taxable turnover in any rolling 12-month period, unchanged since 1 April 2024 and confirmed for 2026/27. (Source: GOV.UK / House of Commons Library.)
- Overseas sellers storing stock in the UK have a £0 threshold — for example, a US Amazon FBA seller holding inventory in a UK warehouse must register for VAT from the first sale.
- Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is live from 6 April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with gross income over £50,000, affecting an estimated 860,000+ taxpayers in the first wave. The threshold drops to £30,000 in April 2027 and £20,000 in April 2028. (Source: HMRC.)
- The EU's IOSS scheme covers consignments valued up to €150, letting sellers charge VAT at checkout on low-value goods sold to EU consumers. (Source: EU VAT e-commerce package, July 2021.)

Ecommerce accountant FAQs
If you sell on marketplaces, yes — the moment fees, refunds, ad spend and cross-border VAT are involved, generic bookkeeping breaks down. An ecommerce accountant reconciles your payouts and VAT correctly, so you know your true profit and stay compliant with HMRC.
Amazon (FBA and FBM), Shopify, eBay, Etsy, TikTok Shop, WooCommerce and Wix, plus payment processors like Stripe, PayPal and Klarna. If you sell somewhere else, ask us — we can almost certainly connect it.
UK sellers must register for VAT once taxable turnover passes £90,000 in any rolling 12-month period. Overseas sellers storing stock in the UK register from their first sale. Selling into the EU adds OSS and IOSS rules, which we handle end to end.
Yes. We reconcile marketplace-collected VAT correctly, file your UK returns under Making Tax Digital, and set up EU OSS/IOSS where you sell across borders — so you neither overpay HMRC nor risk a penalty.
Yes, without judgement. We clear backlogs regularly: reconcile historic payouts, sort your VAT position, and get you to a clean, current set of books before setting up an easy monthly rhythm.
No. We recommend and set up the right software for how you sell, connect your channels through A2X or Link My Books, and show you how to use it. You don’t need to buy, learn or maintain anything alone.
We’re based in Birmingham but work with ecommerce sellers across the UK. Everything runs remotely by call, email or WhatsApp, so wherever you’re based you get an accountant who knows your name and your numbers.
